Blended Online Mental Health First Aid Community Course

Mental Health First Aid is a concept developed to educate and assist the general public about the most simple and practical skills in assisting family, friend and co-worker who is experiencing mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.

Mental Health First Aid Course Information

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Course is designed and promoted by the MHFA Australia to teach participants how to assist members of the public, friend, family and co-worker who are experiencing a mental health crisis until the person receives professional help.

This course teaches you how to recognize the signs and symptoms of different illnesses and crises, how to offer support and how to provide initial help and guide the individual to appropriate treatment and ongoing care.

Mental health problems covered:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety problems
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems

Mental health crises covered:

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviors
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe effects of alcohol or other drug use
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Aggressive behaviors

Course Structure

Each participant will undertake and complete a self-paced e-learning session which takes approximately (5-7) hours. This can be completed at your leisure. Please give yourself enough time to complete the e-learning. There will be a quiz to complete.

Once you register for Blended Online Mental Health First Aid course, participants will be given a link to complete the e-learning training.

You must have completed the e-learning training before attending an online face-to-face workshop. Please email your certificate of completion of the online training to us at least 1 week prior to the online face to face session you are registered in to confirm your place.

Online Zoom Face-to-face workshop

The Zoom online session will be conducted for 5 hours over two days. 2.5 hours each day

Sessions will have a maximum of 12 participants and the dates are listed below. Please only register for one session; and cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend so that places can be offered to participants on the waiting list.
